Overview

The Product Test / Upgrades prime will be responsible to ensure that new functionality is fully tested and then delivered via seamless upgrades to Telepin’s customers.

Responsibilities

Product Test Prime

  • Write product test plans for new functionality, based on Solution Descriptions written by Development and Product Management;
  • Review product test plans with Development and Product Management to agree on appropriate test coverage for new functionality;
  • Execute product test plans, track issues and findings with Development to ensure that new functionality is fully tested and ready to be delivered to customers;
  • Maintain a documented history of the test results for all new functionality;
  • Apply continuous improvement to the product test methodology by reviewing field issues with the Support team, and feeding those findings back into future test plans;
  • Seek to streamline the test process where possible, including via automation.

Upgrades Prime

  • Work with Project Management and Development to define a detailed upgrade process to ensure high quality, low defect upgrades every time;
  • Work with Project Management to develop and maintain the plan for upcoming upgrades;
  • Work with Development to develop the MOP (Method of Procedure) for each upgrade;
  • Ensure that each upgrade is thoroughly tested before declaring it ready to be deployed – internally and/or at customer staging site, new functionality and regression;
  • Liaise directly with customers to prepare for the upgrade – agree to MOP, timing and test coverage;
  • Ensure that all required personnel are available for the given upgrade – from Telepin and the Customer side;
  • Act as the prime contact between Development and the Customer during the upgrade;
  • Ensure that all steps from the MOP are executed and that all testing has been performed;
  • Manage any issues that occur during the upgrade, be ready to make the decision to rollback if necessary, based on discussion with the Customer;
  • Ensure that the Customer is satisfied with the upgrade before declaring it complete;
  • Issue an ‘upgrade complete’ report to the Customer;
  • Continuously improve upgrades;
  • Maintain a documented history of customer upgrades;
  • Follow up on issues from upgrades, provide feedback into the upgrades process to avoid such issues in subsequent upgrades – strive for zero-issue upgrades;
  • Seek to streamline the upgrade process where possible, including via automation.

Required Experience

  • Post-secondary education in computer science or related field;
  • 3 – 5 years of product test and/or upgrades delivery experience in a corporate environment;
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills;
  • Excellent English language communication and presentation skills (oral and written);
  • Working knowledge of Oracle databases (Oracle 10g), UNIX operating systems (Solaris 10), and IP based data networks (TCP/IP), Web technologies;
  • Knowledge of Sun hardware platforms;
  • Knowledge of automation techniques and technologies, and a desire to use them to automate repetitive steps;
  • Willingness to learn new technologies/products and a desire for career growth;
  • Resilience and ability to cope effectively under pressure;
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work efficiently to meet deadlines;
  • Proficiency in French, Arabic or Spanish is an asset.
